Having a STEM backpack is a great way to help kids feel independent when they go about their day. We have used backpacks even before our kids was going to leave the house, because its a great way to encurage ownership, and independence.
We have made sure that the kids are in on packing their backpack whenever we go anywhere, and even just the knowledge that they have a backpack on, is helpful if you have kids that need a bit of extra support.
Please make sure that when you buy a backpack you make sure that it is the right size for your child. Carrying a backpack can quickly become heavy and you want to make sure that you support your child and their back when you choose a backpack.

With that said – these are our favorite STEM inspired backpacks. If you have a younger child, or if you want to make sure that they can be worn for longer, make sure that you buy a backpack that is suited for your needs.

The Asge Luminos Backpack
This backpack has adjustable straps so that you can make sure that it fits your child just right. It is set up so that the bag absorbs natural light. It then reflects that light for 4-7 hours after you put it down.
We like it because it looks cool, and because its made from material that lasts.
Periodic table backpack
I mean seriously – having the periodic table right there on the back pack. I dont think I could get it to scream STEM backpack any louder even if I tried. Its a great conversation starter – and it might help me get to know them better as well 🙂
Educational Science items backpack
This backpack is filled with funny pictures of STEM. It strikes curiosity about what all the things might be used for in a science lab.
Solar system back pack
One of the major interests in our house right now is the solar system and how it works. This backpack would be a great addition to our talks about where the planets are in relation to each other.
